If anyone is looking to improve their skiing skills (or just learn to ski!), I highly recommend reaching out to Kris Buttenberg at Biste Technologies, LLC in Reno! Training on the Biste system was invaluable to Emma, not only as she worked to return to snow from her knee injury, but also to really get down some key skills that will help her throughout the race season.
Kris Buttenberg, at Biste Technologies, has invented a truly one-of-a-kind experience in South Reno. It’s as close to skiing as you can get in the heat of a Nevada summer and we are working with him to provide access to SBA athletes over the summer. The machine demands ankle flexion and the activation of the athletes’ feet, ankles and knees – all important pieces of the puzzle on-snow. This is a great way to stay sharp over the summer.
Kris,
I truly appreciated having the fastest skier on the hill take time out to assist me with learning how to prepare for the race. I’m very optimistic that we’ll continue to clear up the items we’ve been working on and I’ll be quite a bit faster racing.
Best Regards,
So so Happy! I’m getting it! Spent time going down Kit Carson yesterday and I could actually feel the skills, and could go back and forth many many times over(not just three!) I was swooshing and it felt natural, secondary! My hubby even said I finally looked relaxed while skiing correctly! Brian is now your biggest fan, ‘if Kris can work miracles on you then he can work with anyone’. Kim R is also singing your praises, Olivia is skiing beautifully! THANKS!!”
I have been skiing for four years, but have not been very confident. I signed up for lessons with Kris to address skill, control, and safe form. I have only had one lesson so far and I can’t believe the improvement! I already feel like I have a great deal more control on the slopes. Plus, I’m not working my muscles as hard trying to make the turns and therefore, I’m not as tired while skiing. Unlike my lessons on the slope, Kris is right in front of me watching my every move. The instant, real-time feedback is worth every penny. Plus, Kris is a very good teacher. He is patient, attentive, and motivational. I am looking forward to the rest of my lessons!”
My wife and I saw the article on Biste in the RGJ. We had plateaued in our skiing ability — basically being stuck at the “Advanced-minus” level for the last several years. We were ready and eager to take it to the next level. We had tried “on the mountain” lessons but were frustrated that in a one-hour lesson you only received about 8 minutes of actual instruction. As soon as we saw the picture in the RGJ of Kris giving instruction on the “treadmill”, we knew that this was what we were looking for.
We called Kris right away and signed up for the introductory lesson. The bad news is that Kris told us that we were skiing totally wrong. The good news is that we already knew that, and Kris immediately got to work on building a strong skiing foundation. The intro lesson was such a smash hit that when we went skiing the next day we both called it “the first real skiing day of our lives”.
We are now on lesson five of the twelve-lesson series, and we are seeing improvement at each lesson, and more importantly we are seeing improvement on the slopes. Kris is a great teacher, and the treadmill allows instant feedback. If you are serious about learning to ski properly and taking your skills to the next level, we can highly recommend Kris and the Biste method.”
Kris Buttenberg is a fabulous ski instructor.
He is friendly and professional, and excellent at helping me progress quickly with fun and challenging lesson plans.
He built a wonderful “Biste,” an inclined treadmill that makes it possible to ski and learn faster, even during the off season. I have been becoming a better skier in the last several months since taking lessons with him—and that was during the summer.
I have rehabilitating and re-educating my body so that I can safely and strongly ski after knee and ankle injuries. Before taking lessons with Kris, my knee was holding me back from regaining my former ski skills or getting to be much better as a skier.
But now, since Kris has been so great at helping me fine-tune what I am doing, I think I might even be a better skier than I’ve ever been my whole life!
Unlike with traditional, on-site mountain ski lessons in the snow, with the Biste, he can be just a few feet in front of me, and can see what all my bones and joints are doing, so that hes been able to teach me and train me to ski with much greater ease and confidence.
The classes helped immensely!! Kellen and the twins were as good as other kids who had been skiing many more days before them this year, so it was fantastic that they could just dive right in and be at the same level. Exactly what I wanted.
Kris has a great combination of friendly motivation, technical assessment, and personalized instruction that creates real skill development. He has a fun style that keeps people relaxed and improving.
We tried out this endless ski slope a few weeks ago and it was fantastic. It was the next best thing to being on snow and in one session I felt like I worked out this weird right leg under edging thing I could not put my finger on all winter. ‘Their’ alpine race watches and instructs, it’s very interactive and great exercise. ‘My two kids’ loved it!
